Today we welcome to Pirtek Dial Park the Wynyard Cats and all teams are excited to see what they can produce against one of the leagues top condenders.
It was a fantastic day at Latrobe last week with the reserves and seniors getting good wins. The under 18s played gallantly to go down by a few goal however they are certainly improving and our women having a tough loss.
In the seniors we had great contributions across the field with our backline really standing firm. Brayden Purton was sensational in his first game, beating his opponent and setting us up across half back. Young gun Jay Van Essen had his best senior game, being clean and courageous all day. Lachie McKellar and Luke Von Bibra were solid in the backline taking some valuable intercepts possession. The leaders Jake Wray, Will Huxtable and Sam Mawer battled their hearts out all day on ball. Mitch Hodgett’s new role across half forward was positive and Coach Chris wound back the clock to snag 6 goals. The coaching staff have been working this week on our delivery going forward, our stopages work and continuing to build on our fitness.
In the reserves Kal Paul absolutely dominated, kicking and setting up goals at will. Matt Kinch, who got knocked into next week, played a great game on ball. Clint Carpenter, Damon Overton, Grant Kelly and Aiden Laing-Hughes not only defended hard all day but set us up going forward on many occasions.
In the under 18s Harry Dick was best on ground using his silky left foot to set up from defence. Long sleeve legend Aiden Bowden and new player Cam Maher both played exceptional games.
The women had a tough loss against a good Latrobe side going down by 73 points. Lila has worked the women hard this week and will be looking to bounce back against Wynyard this week.
Across the board, some very positive signs out of last week.
