We would like to wish Jake Wray-McCann all the best as he ventures to his hometown of Queenstown to play in the DFA next year.
Our Senior co-captain for the past three seasons, Jake has spent a large portion of the last 14 years involved with the Two Blues, taking him to 121 Senior games. Debuting in 2008, it wasn’t until 2015 when Jake really showed his capabilities as a ruckman, defender, and at times key forward.
In 2015 alone, Jake took out the NWFL & PFC Senior Most Improved Player, made the NWFL Senior Representative side, won the Dulcie Medwin Memorial Award for Penguin’s Senior Runner-up B&F, as well as the PFC Senior Most Determined award. He even won Best Dressed at the Cowboy & Indian dress up night that year such was his form.
Besides his obvious on field talent, it is Jake’s leadership and friendship that is most valued at the football club, and his ability to gel the playing group was instrumental in taking the Senior team to the Grand Final in 2016 and 2021.
We wish Jake, Hollie and Louie all the best in their upcoming chapter at Queenstown.
